Would you like to print your business logo on a canvas that's as gigantic and conspicuous as a plane? We're guessing the answer is yes, and let's face it, who wouldn't want their branding to soar through the skies on a giant, moving billboard? Well, these airlines and businesses achieved just that when they came up with bold, clever and creative decals for their aircraft.
To celebrate it's decision to sponsor the British Museum in 2009 Korean Air painted their plane with a golden Egyptian mask and other renowned treasures from the museum's collection.
An Anglo-Saxon helmet was one of the museum's artefacts depicted on the airplane
This 2013 design, inspired by the adorable and iconic panda bear, was to mark the launch of a new flight route from London to Chengdu, China. We especially like how the front of the plane corresponds to the panda's face, with windows for the eyes.
The number of this flight was BA88 because 8 is considered a lucky number in China
The Taiwan based airline celebrated the 2013 launch of its first long-range jet flying between Los Angeles and Taipei with a Hello Kitty themed livery. Not only was the exterior customised, but the inside of the plane contained Hello Kitty coffee cups and, food and toilet rolls!
Even the crew’s uniforms on this flight were cat-themed
This intricate artwork was unveiled in 2006. The farmers, cows, goats and alpine meadows painted a pretty picture of Switzerland for passengers, before they’d even arrived!
Swiss Airlines also did a flower-power livery in 2010, for planes flying from Zurich to San Fransisco
This plane decal took more than 400 hours to complete, because of its size and complexity. But it was worth it for a result that really emphasised one of New Zealand's most famous tourist attractions. Passengers on the flight even enjoyed a Hobbit themed safety video featuring characters from Middle Earth.
For the airliner's first flight, the cabin crew were wearing pointy elf ears!
While we aren't able to offer you any branding that is quite as big as these examples, it's these kinds of smart, innovative designs that we love to help businesses come up with, (albeit on a smaller scale). Which of these designs is your favourite? Has any of the clever artwork inspired your own ideas for logos and branding? Please tell us in the comments below or give us a ring on 01204 577 995!
