In 2009 television channel Prime TV confronted the problem of how to get people to stay in and watch their detective show, 'Weekend Murders', during the summer months, when everyone wanted to be outside and at the beach. DraftFCB, an ad agency in New Zealand, helped them come up with a campaign involving beach towels. But these weren't just any old beach towels printed with a brand name - they were shaped and coloured to resemble pools of blood! Sunbathers lying on them looked like they had been murdered, so conveying the tv show's theme, and getting other beach-goers in the mood for a riveting murder mystery.
The creativity of this campaign is impressive due to the clever linking of a beach setting with a television crime drama. And the potential of beach towel advertising doesn't stop there; in a previous blog we featured a campaign by the Cancer Association that used towels very cleverly too.
If either of these campaigns has given you inspiration to promote your business using towels, check out the range on our website, which contains hand, sports and of course beach varieties.
