Canadian frozen yoghurt brand Yogen Fruz were opening a new store branch in Malaysia and wanted to get people excited about the big day. In collaboration with a Malaysian advertising agency they came up with a direct marketing campaign that not only got people excited, but also gave them the power to decide when the grand opening would be!
Printed yoghurt cups were attached to huge poster boards displaying pictures of frozen yoghurt and the slogan "Yogen Fruz opens when all the cups are gone". One by one all of the cups were taken by passers by until, finally, the store could open. On launch day, over 2000 cups of frozen yoghurt were sold in the first few hours! And, all those who had taken cups from the display were rewarded with a 50% discount for one day after the store's opening.
