Tourism Authority of Thailand hired Leo Burnett agency to create a campaign to drive more tourists to the country. They were to come up with a flyer to give away at an international tourism expo that would stand out from the croud and create a buzz.
To make the flyers unique, the agency designed a series of Thailand-themed artworks that were then featured on temporary tattoos. Not only were the tattoos appreciated for their visual appeal; they could also be scanned with a mobile phone to take the visitor to a video promoting various activities you can do in Thailand.
The campaign was a massive hit. Tattoo flyers was one of the drivers that contributed to a 42% increase, the highest ever number, of Chinese tourists visiting Thailand after the expo.
