Promotional Toothbrushes Challenge Coca Cola's London Eye Branding #CleverPromoGifts

Children's Food Campaigners at London EyeThis week the Children’s Food Campaign, a group campaigning to improve young people’s health through protecting them from junk food marketing, have been protesting Coca Cola's new branding of the London Eye using promotional toothbrushes. The toothbrushes, which are being handed out to families at the major tourist attraction, are all labelled with a sticker that informs recipients of the effects of sugary drinks on children’s health. For example, some of the toothbrushes read “Every week 500 children aged 5-9 are hospitalised due to rotten teeth.”, whilst others say “Sugary drinks are the largest single source of sugar for children and teenagers.” Not only have the toothbrushes been used cleverly to spread an important message about health, they are also a practical gift that will help recipients combat the effects of sugary drinks.

This campaign is a great example of an organisation using guerrilla marketing tactics to promote its message. Members of the campaign have gone straight to the scene to hand out the cheap toothbrushes, and have gathered a lot of publicity in the process, helping put their charity on the map.
