Promotional Towels Raise Awareness about Sun Damage #CleverPromoGifts

Advertising agency Gitam BBDO ran a skin cancer awareness campaign for a Cancer Association, using beach towels printed to look like hot grills. They scattered around 50 towels all over Gordon beach, Tel Aviv, in order to attract the attention of passers by, and get them to think about the damage that prolonged exposure to a hot sun can do.

The towels were printed with a photographic image of a barbecue

The realistic grill image was eye-catching, and when beach-goers laid down on the towel to sunbathe they were made to consider how lying in the hot sun was akin to burning themselves on a grill - definitely giving them pause for thought! The towels garnered widespread media attention from local news, TV and the internet, spreading the important health message to huge numbers of people.
